BCCI unveils Women's T20 World Cup squad: Nandini Sharma earns maiden call-up; full list here

Mumbai: BCCI on Saturday unveiled India's 15-member roster for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup, highlighted by the return of established stars Yastika Bhatia and Radha Yadav alongside a maiden call-up for uncapped pace sensation Nandini Sharma.

The squad was announced during a press conference at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, featuring captain Harmanpreet Kaur, chief selector Amita Sharma, and secretary Devajit Saikia. The selection committee, which included head coach Amol Muzumdar, finalised the group earlier that morning. This same contingent is also slated to compete in a three-match T20I series against England from May 28 to June 2.

Key Returns and Reinforcements

Radha Yadav earns her spot back in the national setup following an impressive T20I campaign in England last year and consistent all-round contributions throughout the current season. Bhatia, a wicketkeeper-batter, returns after a successful recovery from knee surgery that sidelined her during the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup.

The most notable addition is 24-year-old Nandini Sharma. A breakout performer in the 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL), Sharma made history as the first Indian bowler to record a hat-trick in the tournament. Her inclusion provides necessary depth to a bowling unit hampered by injuries to seam-bowling all-rounders Amanjot Kaur, who is dealing with a back issue, and Kashvee Gautam, who recently underwent surgery on her right knee.

The Road to the Title

India is the first team in Group 1 to confirm its lineup for the global tournament, which runs from June 12 to July 5 in England and Wales. The team is grouped with six-time champions Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.

Harmanpreet Kaur's side will initiate their quest for a maiden T20 World Cup trophy against Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham. Subsequent group fixtures include:

  • June 17: vs. Netherlands (Leeds)
  • June 21: vs. South Africa (Manchester)
  • June 25: vs. Bangladesh (Manchester)
  • June 28: vs. Australia (London, Lord's)

Having secured the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup on home soil, the squad enters the competition seeking to improve upon its best T20 finish-a runner-up performance in 2020.

Official 15-Member Squad

Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (WK), Shree Charani, Yastika Bhatia (WK), Nandini Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, Kranti Gaud, Shreyanka Patil, and Radha Yadav.
