Bengaluru DRDO offices face bomb threats; Udhayanidhi Stalin's son receives kidnapping warnings

Security has been bolstered in Bengaluru following a series of bomb threats directed at offices linked to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

According to an India Today report, the situation escalated rapidly as the investigation revealed targeted kidnapping threats against Inbanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin.

The alarm was raised at the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) after a Tamil-language email warned that 13 cyanide-gas Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been planted on-site. The messages, sent from a disguised address and signed by a group calling itself the "Order of Angels (09A)", threatened a coordinated detonation at 1.10 pm, prompting immediate emergency evacuations.

Local law enforcement and specialised bomb disposal squads conducted exhaustive sweeps of the facilities. While no viable devices have been recovered, police confirmed that at least eight identical emails have been sent from the same source, indicating a persistent, calculated campaign.

Cybercrime units are currently working to trace the origin of the emails. Although the alerts are being treated as a high-stakes hoax, security reportedly remains at its highest level in the region.
