After winning hearts worldwide as Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece, Iñaki Godoy is thinking beyond international fame. The actor has now expressed a keen interest in exploring opportunities in India's vibrant film industry.
Godoy, who has earlier appeared in projects such as 'The Imperfects', says he is keen to explore opportunities outside his usual space. He seems especially interested in India's film industry, which he describes as energetic and full of life.
The young actor shared that he is open to working across countries and cultures, as long as the storytelling excites him.
Talking about Indian cinema, Godoy did not hold back his admiration. He specifically mentioned 'RRR', starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, calling it a film he truly enjoyed.
"I love RRR. That's an awesome movie," he said, making it clear that language or location does not matter when it comes to powerful storytelling.
"A good movie is a good movie. I want to do good films, so count me in," the 22-year-old added, hinting that he would happily take up opportunities in Bollywood. "Bollywood, I'm waiting. Knock on the door."
Reflecting on the overwhelming global response to One Piece on Netflix, Godoy admitted that while every actor hopes their project connects with audiences, success is never guaranteed.
He pointed out that today's entertainment space is extremely crowded, making it difficult for any one project to stand out.
"When you're doing something, you always hope for the best, but things are difficult. Everybody is fighting for people's attention," he said.
With so much content available across platforms, including on mobile devices, he prefers to keep his expectations realistic.
"There's so much stuff to watch, even on your phone, so I always keep my expectations a little bit low," he added.
