Jung Ji Woo, the sister of BTS member J-Hope, has opened up about experiencing a miscarriage following her first round of IVF treatment, sharing the deeply personal news in a new video on her YouTube channel, "Mejiwoo."
In a video posted on 4 April titled "Juragi, It's Been a While - Updates I Couldn't Share", she revealed that she had undergone her first embryo transfer earlier this year but suffered what doctors described as a chemical pregnancy. The update comes after nearly half a year of absence from her channel.
IVF journey
Speaking candidly to her 2.38 million subscribers, Jung said, "The most impactful and difficult news is actually about IVF treatment," explaining that she had initially struggled with whether to disclose the experience due to how personal it was.
She described stepping away from content creation to prioritise recovery, noting that months of intense work and stress led her to take time to focus on her physical and mental health while preparing for a future family.
Jung explained that she began IVF procedures in November last year, adding, "I recently went through my first embryo transfer, but it didn't work out. It was what's called a chemical miscarriage… The first attempt ended with unfortunate news, but I'm recovering well and staying healthy."
Although she tried to remain calm, she admitted the emotional impact was difficult to process, saying she is now doing better and continuing to prioritise her wellbeing.

Why she decided to share her story
The YouTuber and entrepreneur said the decision to speak publicly came from a desire for honesty as she returned to vlogging. "As I start YouTube again and continue sharing my daily life as a vlogger, IVF has become a big part of my routine. I realised I couldn't share my life honestly without mentioning it… Even though it's personal, I felt I should open up about it," she said.
She added that she is now considering a second egg retrieval and additional transfers, noting, "I think I'll be starting again soon."
In a later segment of the video, Jung appealed for sensitivity, saying, "Since it was so difficult for me to bring this up, I would appreciate it if you could be considerate about those aspects and refrain from excessive speculation or excessive questions." She also expressed willingness to share information that might help others navigating similar fertility challenges.
