The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the Class 10 Phase 2 examination schedule for 2026, giving students an opportunity to improve their marks or clear compartment subjects.
The exams will be conducted from May 15 to June 1, 2026, for candidates who had appeared in the Phase 1 board exams and wish to enhance their performance in select subjects.
Exam schedule and key dates
As per the official date sheet, the examinations will begin on May 15 with Mathematics (Standard and Basic). This will be followed by compartment subject exams on May 16 and May 18.
The Science (086) exam is scheduled for May 19, after which compartment exams will continue on May 20 and May 21. Social Science (087) will be held on May 22, followed by additional compartment exams on May 23 and May 25.
Language papers are scheduled for May 26 and May 30, while compartment exams will also take place on May 28 and May 29. The entire schedule will conclude on June 1, 2026.
Eligibility criteria explained
Students who appeared in the Phase 1 board exams and want to improve their marks in up to three subjects-including Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and languages-are eligible to apply.
Those placed in the compartment category in the current or previous sessions can also appear. Additionally, students seeking improvement after passing and those attempting compartment exams again are permitted under CBSE rules.
However, candidates who missed three or more subjects in the first phase are not eligible to sit for the Phase 2 exams.
What students should do next
Students are advised to download the detailed date sheet from the official CBSE website and plan their preparation accordingly. With limited time before exams begin, focusing on weaker subjects and following a structured revision plan will be crucial.
The Phase 2 exams serve as an important opportunity for students to improve their scores and strengthen their final results.
