CUET UG 2026 exam delayed at several centres due to technical glitch, NTA revises timing

CUET UG 2026 exam delayed at several centres due to technical glitch, NTA revises timing

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday confirmed that the CUET UG 2026 examination faced delays at several centres across the country due to a technical glitch reported by its technology partner, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

The issue has now been resolved, and candidates are being provided full compensatory time to ensure that no student is disadvantaged.

In a latest update shared on social media, the NTA said the technical problem affected the commencement of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2026 at some examination centres. The agency clarified that corrective measures were taken immediately and the examination process is continuing smoothly.

According to the revised schedule announced by the NTA, candidates appearing in the afternoon session can report and enter examination centres from 2:30 pm, while the test will begin at 4:00 pm instead of the originally scheduled 3:00 pm.

The agency also stated that candidates appearing in the morning session are being given the complete duration of the examination. Students will be allowed to leave only after finishing the full allotted test time, ensuring that the delay does not impact their performance.

NTA expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to students and parents and said all efforts were being made to conduct the examination fairly.

Students facing issues or seeking clarification can contact the NTA helpline at +91-11-40759000 or reach out through the official support email for assistance.

CUET UG is one of India's largest undergraduate entrance examinations and serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate programmes offered by central universities, state universities, deemed institutions, and several private universities.

Introduced in 2022, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) was designed to create a uniform admission process across higher education institutions. The exam evaluates candidates on language proficiency, domain-specific subjects, and general aptitude, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
