The wait for the most anticipated Bollywood sequel of 2026 is finally over. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh as the formidable Jaskirat Singh Rangi, held its massive paid previews on Wednesday, March 18. While early reactions are calling it a "cinematic monster," the release was marred by widespread technical glitches and show cancellations across South India.
The internet is currently a battlefield of hyper-enthusiastic reactions. Fans who managed to catch the 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM shows are labeling Aditya Dhar's latest directorial a "game-changer."
"Aditya Dhar has created a BEAST. Ranveer Singh isn't just acting-he's bleeding on screen. Every punch, every betrayal, every silence hits like a hammer. Part 1 made you cheer; Part 2 makes you CRY. That 4-hour runtime? It felt like 40 minutes," wrote a X user.
This sentiment was echoed by those stunned by the film's massive scale, with another reviewer claiming, "The consensus is unanimous-Aditya Dhar has delivered the greatest interval block in Indian cinema history. Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi is pure lightning on screen. Is this the first 5-star action epic of 2026?"
Even with a daunting runtime of nearly four hours, the pacing has left audiences breathless. A fan shared, "Already feels like this could be the greatest Indian film ever. The filmmaking is really good, and the music carries the film well. Everything feels very real and intense. The interval twist was really good and sets up the second half perfectly."
Another urged fans to seek out the best possible screening experience, saying, "This deserves a rewatch, saying it rn!!!."
However, the film's polarizing grit did not win everyone over, as one critic argued, "I just watched Dhurandhar 2, and the movie is really bad. You're taking money from the movie team and giving a paid review."
Conversely, most fans are calling it a "cinematic reset," with one social media user simply stating, "2 hour pass still not bored 1 sec . Ranveer singh acting hats off . Music mind blowing i suggest choose dolby atmos theatre if available."
South India premiere chaos: Cancellations and apologies
While North India celebrated a record-breaking rollout, the story took a frustrating turn in the Southern states. Technical delays in delivering forced exhibitors to scrap regional language previews. Major chains like Vetri Cinemas and AGS Cinemas issued public apologies after Malayalam and Kannada versions failed to arrive on time.
Director Aditya Dhar addressed the "Dhurandhar Family" on X, expressing deep regret: "Most of our Hindi shows across India are running as scheduled from 5 pm onwards. All of our Tamil and Telugu shows will commence from 9 pm onwards. However, due to unforeseen technical difficulties, our Malayalam and Kannada shows will begin from tomorrow morning. We truly apologize for the inconvenience."
Despite these hiccups, the film is eyeing a historic ₹100 crore+ global opening day, fueled by over ₹200 crore in advance bookings.
