The official trailer of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', widely referred to as 'Dhurandhar 2', was unveiled on Friday (March 7), offering audiences their first extended look at the next chapter of director Aditya Dhar's expanding espionage thriller universe.
Running for 3 minutes and 25 seconds, the trailer signals a darker and more intense continuation of the story led by Ranveer Singh. The actor reprises his role as undercover operative Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who is now deeply embedded within Pakistan's criminal underworld under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari.
The sequel arrives after the massive success of 'Dhurandhar', which released in December last year and went on to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, overtaking 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'. The new film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
A darker turn in the espionage saga
Inspired by real events, the first film followed an Indian intelligence agent operating undercover in Karachi as he navigated criminal networks and political circles in a mission to dismantle a terror organisation threatening India's security.
The new trailer suggests the stakes have grown significantly. In the sequel, Rangi, operating as Hamza Ali Mazari, has risen within the ranks of the underworld following the death of gangster Rehman Dakait, played in the first film by Akshaye Khanna.
The footage indicates that Hamza has now taken control of Lyari in Karachi, earning the title of "Lyari ka Badshah". While the first film focused largely on his infiltration of a crime network, the second part shifts toward a broader national security threat.
The trailer also emphasises a more personal conflict for the protagonist, with his mission bringing him into direct confrontation with powerful figures within the terror syndicate.
Ensemble cast and action-heavy narrative
Alongside Singh, the film features a large ensemble cast including Sara Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles.
Dutt appears as the hard-line law enforcement officer SP Chaudhary Aslam, while Madhavan plays Ajay Sanyal. Rampal portrays Major Iqbal, who emerges in the trailer as a key adversary in Hamza's mission.
The trailer is dominated by high-octane action sequences, including gunfights, covert operations and large-scale urban combat scenes. Much of the montage is accompanied by a remixed version of the track 'Ari Ari' by Bombay Rockers, adding a pulsating rhythm to the visuals.
The clip ends with a dramatic line delivered by Singh's character, underscoring the geopolitical tension driving the story: "Ab Pakistan ka mustakbil, Hindustan tey karega."
Advance bookings and preview shows
The makers are preparing for an aggressive theatrical rollout ahead of the March 19 release. Overseas advance bookings for 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' have already begun in select international markets earlier this week.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, domestic ticket sales in India are expected to begin on March 7 following the trailer launch at 11 am.
Sources also indicate that the producers are planning special paid preview screenings on the evening of March 18, a day ahead of the film's global release.
Pan-India release during festive window
Directed by Dhar, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' will be released in multiple languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam - as part of its pan-India strategy.
The film's theatrical debut coincides with the festive period around Eid, Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, positioning it for a potentially strong opening at the box office.
