Indian e-commerce firm Meesho has received an income tax demand notice of nearly ₹1,500 crore, including interest, for the assessment year 2023-24, according to a recent company filing.
The company said it received the notice from the Income Tax Department on 6 March. The demand totals ₹14,99,73,82,840 and arises from certain additions and adjustments made to the income reported by the company during the assessment.
In its filing, Meesho said it is reviewing the assessment order and does not agree with the observations and adjustments made by the tax authorities.
"The company is currently evaluating the assessment order and does not concur with the observations and adjustments made. The company believes that it has adequate legal and factual grounds to contest the same and is taking necessary steps to protect its interests," it said.
The firm also noted that it had earlier received a similar demand notice for the assessment year 2022-23. That matter is currently pending before the courts after the High Court of Karnataka granted an interim stay on the demand on 17 April 2025.

According to the filing, the latest assessment order and demand notice are not expected to have any major adverse impact on the company's financial position, operations, or other activities.
Meanwhile, Meesho reported a widening of losses during the third quarter ended December 2025, largely due to a sharp rise in expenses during the festive season.
The company posted a net loss of ₹490.6 crore for the quarter, compared with a loss of ₹37.43 crore in the same period a year earlier.
Expenses during the quarter rose about 44 per cent to nearly ₹4,071 crore. A large share of the spending came under "other expenses", which totalled ₹3,821.3 crore and accounted for roughly 94 per cent of overall expenditure during the period.
Despite the higher costs, the company recorded strong growth in revenue from operations. Revenue rose 31 per cent to ₹3,517.5 crore in the December 2025 quarter, up from ₹2,678.64 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2024.
