Born to a construction worker family, Sreeja's preparation journey was marked by financial hardship and strong academic determination. She pursued coaching in the city using borrowed funds and often relied on family support to continue her studies.

Her study routine was highly disciplined. She attended classes at Fortune IAS Academy for about six hours daily and maintained consistent self-study habits. Her study room carried motivational quotes and religious verses, reflecting her personal belief that hard work combined with faith would lead to success.

Educationally, Sreeja completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political Science from Madras Christian College and also cleared the NET examination.

Financial challenges were part of her preparation journey. The family managed expenses through loans, including borrowing against gold and assistance from community welfare sources. Small personal goals, such as painting her room and buying a bookstand, were fulfilled only recently.

During the civil services interview, she was asked questions covering geopolitics, history and policy, including topics such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, US elections, and India's role in global diplomacy.

Sreeja had aimed for a top 20 rank but ultimately secured rank 57, which she considers a significant achievement in her first attempt. Her story is being highlighted as an example of perseverance, rural aspiration and academic dedication in civil services preparation.

The success reinforces the growing representation of students from modest economic backgrounds in competitive examinations and continues to inspire civil services aspirants across the country.
