Goa calling! KSRTC launches luxury 3-night, 2-day budget tour package

Alappuzha (Kerala): Following the massive success of its initial budget tourism ventures, the KSRTC Budget Tourism Cell is expanding its horizons with a flagship interstate package to Goa.

This three-night, two-day journey marks a huge step for the state carrier as it moves beyond traditional temple circuits into high-demand leisure tourism.

The package is designed to be a comprehensive experience, covering Goa's sun-drenched beaches, UNESCO-listed historical monuments, and its world-famous nightlife and culinary scene. To ensure a balance between affordability and comfort, the transit is split into two phases: travellers will board a KSRTC bus to Kasaragod, from where they will be transferred to a private luxury AC bus for the cross-border leg of the journey. In a move to elevate the "budget" experience, the Corporation has partnered with the Kerala Tourism Development Cooperative Society (KTDS) to provide premium hotel accommodations.

Strategic expansion and record revenue growth

The launch comes at a time when KSRTC's tourism wing is witnessing unprecedented financial growth. In 2025, the cell reported a revenue of ₹42 crore, nearly doubling its previous year's earnings. Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has served over 1.2 million travellers, proving that there is a vast market for government-backed, reliable travel.

While the Goa ticket prices are being finalised, the cell is simultaneously rolling out a slew of summer special trips to Ooty, Kodaikanal, Rameswaram and Meghamalai. In addition, coastal tourism is getting a boost with the 'Sea Alappuzha' project set to sail on April 1, followed by a similar 'Sea Ashtamudi' venture in Kollam, both aimed at showcasing Kerala's backwaters and maritime beauty.
