New Delhi: Ever worried about missing your train just because you couldn't reach your boarding station on time? That's a common struggle for railway passengers, but not anymore.
In a major relief for travellers, Indian Railways has introduced a new rule allowing passengers to change their boarding point up to 30 minutes before train departure, making last-minute plan changes far less stressful.
What's changed for passengers?
Earlier, missing your boarding station often meant losing your confirmed seat. Now, passengers can switch their boarding station closer to departure time, giving them more flexibility if plans change suddenly.
The 30-minute rule explained
You can change your boarding point until the final reservation chart is prepared
This usually happens 30 minutes before the train departs
After the chart is prepared, no changes are allowed
Who can use this facility?
- Passengers with confirmed tickets
- Passengers with RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets
Not available for waitlisted tickets
Also, keep in mind:
You can change your boarding point only once per ticket
