With the Kharif season underway, farmers across India are awaiting the 23rd instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000, credited directly to their bank accounts.
However, past instalments have shown that payments may be withheld if key requirements are not completed-particularly Aadhaar linking and eKYC verification.
Why eKYC is important for PM Kisan payments
The government has made eKYC mandatory for beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Yojana. Farmers who have not completed eKYC or whose Aadhaar is not linked with their bank account may face delays or may not receive upcoming instalments, as seen in previous payment cycles.
Officials have emphasised that only fully verified beneficiaries continue to receive uninterrupted transfers.
How to complete PM Kisan eKYC
Farmers can complete their eKYC online using the official PM Kisan portal. The process is straightforward:
- Visit the official PM Kisan website.
- Select the eKYC option on the homepage.
- Enter your Aadhaar number.
- Verify using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Submit the details for authentication.
Once completed successfully, the system updates the beneficiary record automatically.
How to check your beneficiary status
Farmers can also confirm their payment status by:
- Opening the PM Kisan portal.
- Selecting the "Beneficiary Status" option.
- Entering either Aadhaar number, bank account number, or registered mobile number.
- Clicking on "Get Data" to view eligibility and payment details.
This helps identify whether eKYC or Aadhaar-bank linking issues are affecting payment.
Aadhaar-bank account linking is essential
Alongside eKYC, beneficiaries must ensure their Aadhaar is correctly linked to their bank account. Mismatches or incomplete linking can lead to failed transactions or delayed instalments.
When to expect the 23rd instalment
While the government has not officially announced a date, the next instalment is typically released in the June-July window, aligning with the start of the financial year's first disbursement cycle.
The previous instalment saw over ₹18,000 crore transferred to more than 9 crore farmers, underscoring the scale of the scheme.
