Google Photos is more than just a cloud backup service for your pictures and videos - it's also a smart way to stay connected with the people who matter most.
One of its most useful features is Partner Sharing, which lets you automatically share photos with a trusted person without manually sending albums or images every time.
Whether you want to keep family memories in sync, instantly share photos of your kids, or create a shared digital scrapbook with your partner, this feature makes the process effortless.
What is Partner Sharing?
Partner Sharing allows you to automatically share your photo library - or selected photos - with another person who has a Google Account. Once enabled, your chosen photos are shared as soon as they are backed up to Google Photos.
You can choose to share: Your entire photo library, Photos from a specific date onward, Photos featuring certain people
Your partner can also choose to share their photos back with you after accepting the invitation.
Things to note:
- Any edits, deletions, or locked folder transfers you make to your copy of a photo won't affect copies already saved by your partner.
- Your partner will receive shared photos automatically once they're backed up.
- Photos from other Android apps may not be shared by default.
- Edited photos on your device can still be shared.
Step to share:
- Open Google Photos
- Open Settings
- Click the Settings icon.
- Find the Sharing section.
- Click 'Expand' next to it.
- Select partner sharing.
- Choose What You Want to Share
Select a starting date:
- Off : Share all photos in your library.
- Since a specific date, only share photos taken after the selected date.
Choose which photos to share
- All photos
- Photos of certain people using Google Photos face groups
- If you choose face groups, only photos matching those selected people will be shared automatically.
Invite your partner
- Enter or select the email address of the person you want to share with.
- The person must have a Google account.
- Click Next.
- If everything looks correct, click "Send invitation."
- Once your partner accepts, the sharing connection becomes active.
- If you also want access to your partner's library, ask them to enable Partner Sharing with your account after they accept your invitation.
- This creates a two-way sharing setup where both libraries stay updated automatically.
However, if you want to share with a different person, you'll first need to stop sharing with your current partner before setting up a new connection.
