India Post has officially announced the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) result 2026 in the form of state-wise merit lists. Candidates who applied for the recruitment drive, which offers 28,636 posts across the country, can now check their results online on the official website: indiapost.gov.in.
The merit list has been released in PDF format for each postal circle and state. To access it, candidates should visit the "Candidate Corner" section on the homepage, click on "List of Shortlisted Candidates," and select their respective state or postal circle. The PDF contains details such as Division Office, Post ID, Post Name, Post Community, Registration Number, and Percentage of marks.
Selection process
The GDS recruitment process is fully merit-based and automated. Selection is determined by marks obtained in the Class 10 (Secondary School) examination. As the minimum eligibility is Class 10 and the number of vacancies is high, the recruitment attracted heavy participation. Only one registration per candidate is considered valid.
Next steps for shortlisted candidates
Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must complete document verification at the Divisional Office of the division where they have been selected. The verification must be done on or before March 23, 2026. Required documents include:
