The Super Kings confirmed that the mother of left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary passed away on Tuesday following a prolonged illness. Despite the loss, Choudhary elected to remain with the team and was included in the starting XI for the high-stakes encounter.
"This one is for Mukesh's mother. In her memory and in solidarity with Mukesh, we wear black armbands and play with a little more in our hearts today," the franchise announced in an official statement via social media.

Following Chennai's victory, Gaikwad dedicated the result to Choudhary, praising the bowler's mental fortitude in choosing to compete under such taxing personal circumstances.
"Pretty tough on him [Mukesh Choudhary]," Gaikwad remarked during the post-match ceremony. "I would dedicate this win to him. Coming in from that sad situation, it takes a lot of effort mentally. He came back for the team; he knew we needed him. All glory to him. Even we spoke before... we wanted to win the game and glad everyone chipped in and wanted to be there for him."

Choudhary, making only his second appearance of the 2026 campaign, proved instrumental in the bowling effort.
