For years, the mysterious death of Jeffrey Epstein has refused to leave public conversation. Despite official rulings, unanswered questions about what happened inside his jail cell have continued to fuel conspiracy theories, from claims of powerful cover-ups to whispers that he never died at all.
Now the internet has once again erupted, this time over a viral photo that many claim shows Epstein alive and living in Israel under a new identity.
Look at the viral photo that sparked 'Epstein alive' claims
The latest theory gained traction after a photo of a grey-bearded man wearing dark sunglasses surfaced across X, Reddit, and Facebook. Thousands of posts confidently claimed the image showed Epstein "spotted alive in Tel Aviv," reigniting speculation that he staged his death and escaped prison.
Captions accompanying the image described it as "proof" that Epstein faked his death and within hours, the photo went viral across conspiracy forums and social media timelines.
Fact check: Photo was AI-generated
Fact-checkers quickly flagged major inconsistencies. The original version of the image carries a SynthID watermark, which indicates it was created or altered using Google's AI tools, as identified by Google Gemini.
The full-sized image also features a small diamond-shaped Gemini watermark, a detail missing from the cropped versions that went viral. This raised serious red flags about the authenticity of the photo.

Experts confirmed that the image is not real and does not depict Jeffrey Epstein.
What really happened to Epstein?
According to official records, Epstein was found dead in August 2019 inside New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Authorities ruled his death a suicide.
The newly released Epstein Files include emails, internal documents, and investigative material related to his case - but no evidence whatsoever suggests Epstein is alive or escaped custody.
Epstein files: Why the buzz?
The latest document dump has drawn massive attention due to references to high-profile figures including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Prince Andrew. However, legal experts stress that a name appearing in the files does not imply wrongdoing.
While the documents have reopened debate about Epstein's network and influence, they provide no support for claims that he survived or is living under a new identity.
