Reports have emerged claiming that Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max could receive a modest but meaningful battery upgrade, with leaks suggesting a higher-capacity unit than its predecessor when the phone is unveiled, likely in September.

According to a new leak, Apple may use different battery capacities for regional variants of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Tipster Digital Chat Station, citing supply-chain sources, claims that the China-specific model will pack a 5,000mAh battery, while the international version could feature a larger cell rated between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh. If accurate, this would mark an improvement over the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is believed to house a 5,088mAh battery.

The leaker adds that battery efficiency on the iPhone 18 Pro Max could see further gains thanks to Apple's rumoured 2nm A20 Pro chipset, which is expected to offer better power management than previous-generation chips. Combined, the denser battery and new processor could translate into longer real-world usage.
Apple does not officially disclose battery capacities, but the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to deliver up to 37 hours of video playback on a single charge. It also supports 40W wired fast charging and 15W MagSafe wireless charging, while the smaller iPhone 17 Pro reportedly includes a 4,252mAh battery.
The leak surfaces amid a wider industry trend where Android manufacturers are pushing dramatically larger battery sizes. Brands such as Honor, OnePlus, and Realme have recently launched phones with 9,000mAh to 10,000mAh batteries, particularly targeting power users and gamers.
Beyond battery improvements, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to sport a 6.86-inch LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate and may ditch the Dynamic Island in favour of a small punch-hole selfie camera. Other expected specifications include 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM, a C2 modem, and a triple rear camera setup featuring three 48-megapixel sensors-primary, periscope telephoto, and ultrawide. The front camera is tipped to be an 18-megapixel shooter with a 6P lens.
