The promotional momentum around the upcoming Malayalam action thriller Kattalan has intensified with the release of its latest track, "The Hunter Anthem," which has quickly drawn attention for its high-energy composition and intense visual style.
Released through actor Mohanlal's official page, the song has added fresh buzz to a film that is already generating strong interest ahead of its worldwide release on 28 May.
Composed by Nihal Sadiq, the anthem brings together a powerful mix of voices including Hanan Shaah, SVDP and Munz, with lyrics written by Suhail Koya, Vignesh and SVDP. The track stands out for its raw musical energy and fast-paced arrangement, designed to match the film's aggressive and survival-driven narrative tone. Visually, the anthem features dynamic choreography, sharp cuts and a stylised presentation that reflects the film's dark and intense world.
Kattalan is produced under Cubes Entertainments, the banner behind the hit film Marco, and continues its focus on high-intensity storytelling. The film is directed by debutant Paul George and stars Antony Varghese Pepe in the lead, alongside Dushara Vijayan, Sunil and Kabir Singh. It also features a large ensemble cast including several pan-Indian actors, adding to its scale and appeal.
The film's promotional content has already gained traction online, with its teaser and multiple themed music tracks going viral. Earlier releases included variations like Jungle Beast Theme, Wild Beast Theme and Ocean Beast Theme, composed by Ravi Basrur, known for his impactful background scores in major pan-Indian films. The combination of multiple composers, including B. Ajaneesh Loknath, has contributed to a layered and intense soundscape for the film.
Kattalan explores a dark narrative centred around ivory smuggling, survival and revenge, set against visually rich forest environments. The production has emphasised realism in several sequences, with reports highlighting that some scenes involving elephants were shot using real animals rather than visual effects, adding to the film's authenticity and scale.
Filmed over an extensive 140-day schedule, the project has already created strong pre-release anticipation through its posters, teaser and behind-the-scenes visuals. The music rights have been acquired by T-Series, while Shemaroo is handling digital and satellite distribution. Hombale Films has secured theatrical distribution rights for Karnataka, and Phars Films is managing overseas distribution.
