Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP has conducted a preliminary assessment of its performance in the Kerala assembly elections, expressing confidence of winning between five and seven seats.
The party is optimistic about victories in Nemom, Kazhakkoottam, Manjeshwar, Palakkad and Kattakkada constituencies.
It also sees the possibility of upset wins in Thrissur, Thiruvalla and Thiruvananthapuram seats.
The core committee has decided to directly review booth-level data, with a panel of state leaders set to visit districts to collect detailed assessments.
Meanwhile, criticism was raised within the core committee regarding Shaun George's remarks targeting Christian churches. He clarified that his criticism was not directed at the Church or its leadership, but at the Deepika newspaper for allegedly taking a pro-Congress stance. The state leadership has also advised against public criticism of Church leadership for the time being.
There were also demands within the core committee for action against Sobha Surendran. A leaked audio clip allegedly featuring remarks about state vice-president K. Soman has sparked controversy, with the BJP leader stating that the comments caused him embarrassment both publicly and within his family.
