Thiruvananthapuram: As counting for the Kerala Assembly election 2026 gets underway on Monday morning, early trends by 9 am show the UDF taking a clear lead across the state.
However, the contest remains tight, with the LDF closely trailing in several key constituencies. The BJP is also registering gains in select seats as vote counting continues across centres.
Counting for Kerala's 2026 Assembly elections began at 8 am, starting with postal ballots followed by EVMs across all 140 constituencies, with over 17,000 officials deployed at 43 centres under tight security.
With a strong 78.27% voter turnout, the results will determine whether the ruling LDF retains power or the UDF stages a comeback, continuing Kerala's traditional pattern of alternating governments.
