Legendary Malayalam writer Basheer's Pathummayude Aadu finds a new voice in anti-war music video

Legendary Malayalam writer Basheer's Pathummayude Aadu finds a new voice in anti-war music video

Inspired by legendary Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's Pathummayude Aadu (Pathumma's Goat), a new music video titled Paper Boat has been released with a message centred on children affected by war.

The project focuses on childhood, innocence and the human cost of conflict.

Presented by music composer Salil Hutton and his team, the music video carries the message that wars destroy childhood and take away innocence and lives.

The video was launched online on Tuesday during an event held at the CSI Retreat Centre at Mananchira in Kozhikode.

A song about innocence and hope

Salil Hutton, a singer and music composer from Kozhikode who is now based in Mumbai, composed and wrote the music for the project. He is the son of guitarist Archie Hutton, who was well known among music lovers.

The project is described as "A song about innocence, hope and humanity in a world torn by war."

Nine-year-old Kozhikode singer Vihaan T Anish has also lent his voice to the song alongside Hutton.

Production team and launch event

Praveen Makkada handled mixing, mastering and cuts for the project, while Salil Hutton worked on visual design and conceptualisation. The music video was produced by Josh Hutton and Amy Hutton, with audio recorded at Amar Studio, Calicut.

Those who attended or spoke at the launch event included CSI Malabar Diocese Bishop Dr Royce Manoj Victor, Palayam Imam Dr Hussain Madavoor, Sree Ramakrishna Mission head Swami Narasimhananda, Shahina Basheer, Fr Dr T.I. James, Mustafa Muhammad and Dr Farzana.
