Udaipur: Renowned film producer RB Choudary, the father of popular actor Jiiva, has passed away following a severe car accident in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The veteran filmmaker succumbed to critical injuries sustained during the crash, though specific details surrounding the incident have yet to be fully disclosed.

A prolific cinematic legacy

Since 1988, RB Choudary remained a pillar of the Indian film industry through his prolific production house, Super Good Films. His career spanned multiple languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi. He was the creative force behind several landmark projects, including the Malayalam hit 'Keerthi Chakra' and a vast catalogue of Tamil cinema.

Rise to prominence

Choudary's journey in Tamil cinema began with the 1990 film Pudhu Vasantham, which earned a Tamil Nadu State Film Award and set the stage for his future success. He gained remarkable industry recognition shortly after with the thriller 'Puriyada Puthir', directed by KS Ravikumar. Over the following decades, he produced a string of iconic hits such as 'Nattamai', 'Suryavamsam', 'Thulladha Manamum Thullum' and more recently, the 2025 film 'Maareesan' featuring Fahadh Faasil.

Industry impact and recognition

Throughout his illustrious career, Choudary was honoured with seven Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. He was widely respected for his ability to identify and introduce fresh talent to the silver screen. His sons, Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh, both established themselves as actors under his mentorship and through his production banner, appearing in several successful films produced by their father.

Business roots and family

Hailing from Rajasthan, Choudary, before entering the field of film production, worked in the steel, export and jewellery business sectors. He used to produce films under the 'Super' banner in partnership with Good Knight Mohan. When they decided to part ways, Choudary took 'Good' from 'Good Knight' and renamed the production company 'Super Good Films'.
