New Delhi: There's some relief for LPG consumers, especially for those under the government's flagship Ujjwala scheme. The Centre has increased the LPG subsidy from ₹200 to ₹300, offering extra financial support at a time when global energy concerns continue to rise.
Who gets the ₹300 LPG subsidy?
The revised subsidy is only for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which provides free LPG connections to low-income households.
If you are part of this scheme, the additional ₹100 subsidy will be credited directly to your bank account, helping reduce the overall cost of cooking gas.
How to check if you received the subsidy
If you're unsure whether the subsidy amount has been credited, you can check it online in a few simple steps:
Visit the official LPG portal: https://pmuy.gov.in/mylpg.html
Select your LPG provider
Enter your 17-digit LPG ID or registered mobile number
Go to Refill History / Subsidy Status
Check the subsidy amount and bank transfer details
This allows users to track payments and ensure they are receiving the benefits they're entitled to.
Why LPG rules are changing now
The subsidy hike comes at a time when global energy markets remain uncertain. Ongoing tensions involving the US and Iran have raised concerns over oil and gas supply routes like the Strait of Hormuz, which play a key role in global fuel distribution.
As a result, India has been tweaking LPG-related rules to manage supply and prevent disruptions.
New LPG rule in Delhi you should know
In a separate move, the Delhi government has introduced a strict ban on direct LPG cylinder sales from warehouses (godowns).
Authorities have instructed oil companies and distributors not to sell cylinders directly to consumers from storage points. Any violation could lead to strict action.
For consumers, this means:
- No more direct pickup from godowns
- Cylinders must be booked through official channels
- Home delivery remains the only legal option.
