Madras School of Economics Admission 2026: Eligibility, courses, dates and entrance test details out

Madras School of Economics (MSE), Gandhi Mandapam Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai 600 025, recognized as Institution of Special Importance by the Government of Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for admission to various Programmes for 2026-27.

Academic Programs: (i) 5-year Integrated MA in Economics (ii) M.A. Actuarial Economics; M.A. Applied Quantitative Finance; M.A. Environment Economics; M.A. Financial Economics; M.A. General Economics (iii) M.Sc (Data Science) (iv) MBA (Business Analytics); MBA (Finance) (v) Ph.D. in Economics and Allied Subjects (full-time and part-time)

Eligibility: 5-year Integrated MA in Economics: Applicant should have a Pass (in any subject combination) in 10+2 in the first attempt of final year exams in the Academic year 2026, with Mathematics (Standard/Applied/Business) at the 10+2 level and must secure 65% (60% for OBC - NCL; 50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates)/equivalent grades or credits at the 10+2 level. Applicant should not have completed 22 years of age as on 1st July 2026. The Programme is offered with exit option after 3 years with BA (Honors) and after 4 years with BA (Honors with Research).

M.A. degree is offered in (i) Actuarial Economics (ii) Applied Quantitative Finance (iii) Environmental Economics (iv) Financial Economics (v) General Economics. Applicant must have an Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences (including Commerce & Management), Sciences, or Engineering or should be appearing for their final year exams of the UG course in the AY 2026 and should secure 55% marks (50% for OBC; 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) at UG level. Applicant should not have completed 25 years of age as on 1st July 2026. Applicant should have studied Mathematics at plus-two level/equivalent or completed Mathematical Economics course(s) at under-graduate level.

M.Sc. degree in Data Science: Applicant must have Undergraduate degree in Social sciences (including Commerce & Management), Sciences or Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering or should be appearing for their final year exams of the UG Course in the AY 2026 and should secure 55% marks (50% for OBC -NCL; 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) at the UG Course. Applicant should not have completed 25 years of age as on 1st July 2026. Applicant should have studied Mathematics at plus-two level or completed Mathematical Economics course at under-graduate level.

Admission to Integrated and MA Programmes will be based on the entrance test at designated centres in India, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. In the case of a tie in entrance test marks, merit ranking will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and age.

GATE scores in the disciplines of Computer Science & Information Technology, Data Science &Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics & Physics will also be considered for admissions to M.Sc. degree in Data Science.

M.B.A. in (i) Business Analytics; (ii) Finance: Applicants must have completed their undergraduate studies in Social Sciences (including Commerce & Management), Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering in their first attempt or should be appearing for their exams in May 2026. Applicant should have secured 60% marks in Class X, and XII and 55% marks (50% for OBC, 45% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) at the UG level. Applicants should have studied Mathematics at the Class XII level or an equivalent qualification or completed Mathematical Economics courses at the Undergraduate level, covering topics such as Linear Algebra, Differential Calculus (single & multivariable), and Optimization (Linear & Non-linear). Additionally, they must have valid scores from any of the following entrance exams: CAT, GMAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, or ATMA. Applicant should not be older than 25 years as of July 1, 2026. Applicants for MBA will be shortlisted based on their performance in the standardized tests (both overall and sectional cut-off scores).

For MBA, last date of submission of application for Round 2 & Round 3 is 30th April 2026 and 15th June 2026 respectively.
