Next 'Waka Waka'? Shakira unveils FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem 'Dai Dai'

Mexico: A decade after delivering the iconic FIFA World Cup anthem 'Waka Waka', Colombian pop sensation Shakira is set to return to football's biggest stage with a brand-new tournament track titled 'Dai Dai'.

The singer on Thursday unveiled the teaser for the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the full track scheduled for release on May 14. The song also features Nigerian music star Burna Boy.

Taking to Instagram, the 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker shared a one-minute teaser video from MaracanĂ£ Stadium, building excitement around the upcoming release.

'Dai Dai' will mark Shakira's second official FIFA World Cup song after the hugely successful 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)', which was released for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

According to Billboard, 'Waka Waka' peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts in July 2010. The track also climbed to No. 8 on Latin Rhythm Airplay and reached No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. It further spent 42 weeks at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales, making it Shakira's longest-running chart-topper on that list.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, will be the biggest edition of the tournament so far, featuring 104 matches across United States, Canada and Mexico. The opening match will take place in Mexico City, while the final will be held in New Jersey.
