Registration for the Norka Care Health and Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme has already begun. Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) must first possess a valid identity card to enrol.

These include the Pravasi ID Card for NRKs abroad, Student ID Card for Keralite students abroad, and NRK ID Card for NRKs residing in other Indian states.

What these ID cards offer and how to get them

Pravasi ID Card (NRKs abroad):It entitles holders to Rs 5 lakh accidental death coverage and Rs 2 lakh for permanent or partial disability.

Student ID Card (students abroad): Launched in April 2020, this card provides Rs 5 lakh personal accident coverage for death and up to Rs 2 lakh for permanent or partial disability.

NRK ID Card (NRKs within India): Introduced in June 2012, it offers Rs 5 lakh personal accident coverage for death and up to Rs 2 lakh for permanent or partial disability.

NPRI - Critical Illness Cover: Provides Rs 1 lakh for critical illness and add-on benefits: Rs 3 lakh for life accident, Rs 1 lakh for permanent/partial disability.

  1. Register account: id.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in- create account and verify identity
  2. Submit application form: Complete the form and make payment
  3. Get approved: Receive digital identity card and physical card delivery

Norka Care insurance registration

Once NRKs have their ID cards, they can register for the Norka Care scheme, which provides ₹5 lakh health insurance and ₹10 lakh group personal accident coverage. The scheme was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan on 22 September 2025.
