Salman Khan's legal team moves against Kala Hiran film, makers asked to halt release

Salman Khan's legal team moves against Kala Hiran film, makers asked to halt release

A fresh controversy has erupted around Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, the upcoming film reportedly inspired by the blackbuck poaching case linked to Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Days after the project was unveiled, Salman Khan's legal team has allegedly sent a legal notice to the makers, demanding that the film's release be halted and all promotional material be removed.

The notice seeks the immediate withdrawal of posters, publicity content and other promotional assets related to the film. It also warns of further legal action if the demands are not complied with.

Responding to the development, producer Amit Jani accused Salman Khan of trying to pressure those associated with the project through legal means. "Salman Khan has started threatening people connected with the film Kala Hiran by sending legal notices. The purpose of the notice is only to intimidate people so that they bow before glamour and influence," Jani said.

Why has 'Kala Hiran' landed in controversy?

The dispute comes shortly after the makers announced Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, a film that they claim is inspired by real-life legal battles and high-profile incidents. The project was officially announced on May 29 and quickly drew attention because of its reported connection to the long-running blackbuck case involving Salman Khan.

Produced under the banner of Jani Firefox Media Private Limited and directed by Bharat S. Shrinet, the film has already generated significant buzz online. Amit Jani has previously made headlines for backing several controversial projects, including films based on high-profile criminal cases.

Amid the legal row, uncertainty now surrounds the film's future and release plans.

The controversy has intensified further after the release of the film's first-look poster. Observers pointed out that the lead character appears to be wearing a bracelet resembling Salman Khan's iconic turquoise bracelet, a signature accessory closely associated with the Bollywood star. The visual cue has sparked speculation that the film draws heavily from events and personalities linked to Khan, adding to the debate surrounding the project's release.

According to the production team, the film combines elements of courtroom drama and crime thriller and has been mounted on a large scale with what they describe as an international, Hollywood-style treatment.

The makers have also confirmed that the film will portray the widely discussed rivalry between Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi through a cinematic narrative. Several portions of the movie have reportedly been shot in Uttar Pradesh.

The teaser of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy is scheduled to be released on June 20.
