Techie dies by suicide, partner plunges to death from 17th-floor Bengaluru apartment

A tragic incident has emerged from Bengaluru, where a techie couple in a live-in relationship died by suicide at a residential complex in Kothanur on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Bhanu Chander Reddy Kunta, a software engineer from Siddipet in Telangana, and his partner, 31-year-old Bibi Shaziya Siraj, who worked with IBM.

According to police and preliminary reports, Reddy was found hanging inside a locked room of their apartment.

Shaziya, who was reportedly in another part of the house at the time, grew concerned when Reddy did not respond to repeated knocks on the door.

She alerted security personnel and neighbours, who helped gain access to the room. By then, Reddy was found dead.

Police sources indicate that Reddy may have been suffering from depression. A suicide note recovered from the scene reportedly mentioned his health condition and stated that no one should be held responsible for his death.

In a shocking turn of events shortly after, Shaziya allegedly jumped from the 17th floor of the same residential complex, leading to her death.

Investigators believe the emotional distress following Reddy's death may have triggered her extreme step.

Authorities also revealed that both families were unaware of the couple's live-in relationship, adding another layer of complexity to the case. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain further details.

The Kothanur police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation.

Officials are examining digital evidence, call records, and statements from neighbours to piece together the timeline leading up to the incident.

The case has once again highlighted concerns around mental health among young professionals and the importance of timely intervention and support systems.
