This Hollywood actress joins Instagram, hits 5m followers fast, says no to makeup posts and selfies

Los Angeles: Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock has said she is "excited" to join Instagram and is looking forward to using the content-sharing platform, despite admitting she is still learning how it works.

The 61-year-old actor recently created an account and quickly gained more than five million followers within days, according to 'Female First UK'.

'Still learning' social media use

Bullock told CNBC's event that she is still adapting to the platform and had previously used social media only in a limited way.

"It didn't feel like it would ever be my thing. I do have two kids, and I was like, I need to figure this out. So I'd been on social media, but quietly, just to learn and shop," she said.

She added that she prefers to plan before posting and does not approach social media impulsively.

"I'm not spontaneous. I need to think about it. How does that affect what I can contribute? How badly can I f*** it up? Which, that will come, and I'm just going to lean into that," she said.

No selfies or makeup tutorials planned

During a studio visit, Bullock also asked for guidance on what content she should post, while making clear what fans should not expect from her online presence.

"OK, talk to me, tell me what you see, because if I need to be able to make myself look like an idiot and have fun, I will not be doing selfies or makeup tutorials," she said, as reported by 'Female First UK'.

Separately, Bullock has previously raised concerns over social media misuse involving fake accounts using her image.

Speaking to 'People' magazine, she said, "My family's safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter".

"Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me," she added.
