Kochi: The legacy of child prodigy Edmund Thomas Clint, who created more than 25,000 paintings during his short life of less than seven years, will receive a permanent home with the inauguration of the Clint Art Gallery at the GCDA Shopping Complex on March 12.
Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev will inaugurate the gallery at 10.30 am. Clint's mother, Chinnamma Joseph, will attend as the guest of honour. The event will be presided over by K Chandran Pillai and is expected to be attended by Kochi Mayor V K Minimol, Member of Parliament Hibi Eden and several MLAs.
Born on May 19, 1976, in Ernakulam as the only son of the late M T Joseph and Chinnamma Joseph, Clint lived for just 2,522 days but left behind a remarkable artistic legacy of more than 25,000 paintings. For nearly four decades, the idea of creating a dedicated space to preserve and showcase his work remained unrealised. Although books and documentaries kept his memory alive, Kochi lacked a permanent gallery celebrating the life and talent of its most famous young artist.

The new gallery has been developed inside a 3,000-square-foot space and designed as a cultural hub dedicated to Clint's art and memory. The interior features 101 curated paintings selected from his vast body of work, displayed on specially designed partition walls to create an engaging visual experience.
The exhibition also incorporates contextual descriptions and anecdotes provided by Chinnamma Joseph, helping visitors better understand the stories and emotions behind the paintings. Rare photographs from Clint's childhood and family life will also be displayed, offering a deeper glimpse into the young artist's world.

The facility will include a mini theatre for screening documentaries and short films about Clint's life and artistic journey. Creative spaces will be available for children's painting and learning activities, while a boutique library is planned for the near future, along with a café and other modern amenities.
The initiative aims to establish the Clint Art Gallery as a major cultural destination for children in Kochi. The space is envisioned as a tribute to Clint's extraordinary imagination and curiosity, reflecting his love for reading and storytelling. In addition, the gallery will provide facilities for exhibitions and creative programmes, offering a platform for young and emerging artists to showcase their work.
