Palakkad: Toll rates at the Walayar and Panniyankara toll plazas in Kerala's Palakkad district will increase from midnight on March 31. Authorities issued the order in advance, reportedly anticipating the announcement of the state Assembly elections.
The revision affects several categories of vehicles, including cars, goods vehicles, buses, and heavy trucks.
How much will car owners pay?
For cars, jeeps, and vans, the toll charge will increase by ₹5, raising the rate from ₹80 to ₹85 for a single trip. The same-day return journey charge will rise from ₹120 to ₹125. Similar increases apply to small goods vehicles and minibuses, whose single-trip toll will go up from ₹130 to ₹135, while the same-day return charge will rise from ₹195 to ₹200.

What about trucks and heavy vehicles?
Larger vehicles will also see revised charges. Trucks and buses with two axles will pay ₹280 for a single trip, up from ₹275, while the same-day return fee will rise from ₹410 to ₹425. Heavy vehicles with three to six axles will see a ₹10 increase, taking the single-trip toll to ₹440 and the return fee to ₹665. Vehicles with seven or more axles will face the largest increase of ₹15, bringing the single-trip toll to ₹540 and the return rate to ₹805.
Changes in monthly passes
The monthly pass for 50 single trips for cars and other small vehicles has been increased from ₹2,710 to ₹2,775. Local residents using the toll road will also see a slight rise in their pass fee, which will increase from ₹350 to ₹360.
The revised rates will come into effect at both Walayar and Panniyankara toll plazas from midnight on March 31, affecting regular commuters and freight operators using these key highway routes in Kerala.
