India will celebrate its 77th Republic Day on Monday, Jan 26, 2026, with a massive show of military strength and cultural heritage centred on the dual themes of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) and the 150th anniversary of the national song, "Vande Mataram."
The national festivities, which are to be held at the historic Kartavya Path, will highlight the country's growing defence autonomy and its deep-rooted historical legacy.
Official Ceremony Schedule
The day's events will follow a strict protocol, beginning with a solemn tribute at the National War Memorial before the start of the main procession.
- 9:30 AM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay homage to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial.
- 10:30 AM: The Republic Day Parade will officially commence, with the procession lasting roughly 90 minutes.
- 7:00 AM: Public gates were opened for ticket holders attending the live event.
This year's celebrations will mark a major historic first and diplomatic milestones. The 2026 ceremony will feature dual Chief Guests representing the European Union: António Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
