Fresh court records connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case have brought renewed focus on the wide network of influential people he moved among over the years.
The documents contain images and written records showing Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell alongside prominent figures from politics, royalty, business, entertainment and academic circles. Although the disclosures have reignited public discussion, the files state that appearing in the records does not suggest criminal conduct.
Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in trafficking minors.
Which entertainers appear in the Epstein files?
The documents show Epstein and Maxwell socialising with several high-profile figures from the entertainment industry. Among those named are actor and singer Diana Ross, pop icon Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, and Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey.
Many of these figures were photographed in group settings alongside Epstein, Maxwell, or political leaders such as former US President Bill Clinton. The images do not indicate the nature of their interactions.
The files also mention entertainers including Naomi Campbell, Courtney Love, Chris Tucker and David Copperfield.
Business leaders and billionaires
Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, appears in an undated photograph with Epstein that also includes several women whose identities have been obscured.
Technology and business leaders named in the records include Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman and Peter Thiel. Retail executive Les Wexner of L Brands and hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin also appear in the documents.
Members of the fashion and modelling world, including Jean-Luc Brunel, Frederic Fekkai and Alexandra Fekkai, are also listed.
Which members of royalty are mentioned?
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, appears in an undated image alongside another woman whose face has been covered. Her former husband, Prince Andrew, features more prominently across the files.
Prince Andrew lost his royal titles following allegations made by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, which he has consistently denied.
US Presidents
Few people appear as frequently in the documents as former US President Bill Clinton. He is shown in multiple photographs socialising with Epstein and Maxwell during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
US President Donald Trump's past association with Epstein has also resurfaced in public discussion following the release of the files.
Members of Trump's family, including Marla Maples and Tiffany Trump, are also named in the records.
Which political and diplomatic figures are listed?
The files include references to several senior political and diplomatic figures. These include Larry Summers, former US Treasury secretary; Robert F Kennedy Jr., now serving as US health secretary; Peter Mandelson, former UK ambassador to the US; and Ehud Barak, former Israeli prime minister.
Other political figures named are Bill Richardson, former UN ambassador and governor of New Mexico, and George Mitchell, former US Senate majority leader and international peace negotiator.
Journalists, academics and legal figures
The documents reference journalist Michael Wolff and filmmaker Woody Allen. In some cases, records suggest meetings may have taken place after Epstein's 2008 conviction.
Academics and public intellectuals such as Noam Chomsky appear multiple times in correspondence included in the files.
Legal and financial figures named include Alan Dershowitz, Jes Staley, Tom Pritzker and Kathryn Ruemmler.
Who were Epstein's associates and staff?
Several individuals closely linked to Epstein are named, including his longtime associates and employees. These include Sarah Kellen, Adriana Mucinska, Nadia Marcinkova and his brother, Mark Epstein.
The files also list Eva Andersson-Dubin and Abigail Wexner, as well as a wide range of associates, contacts and staff members such as Jo Jo Fontanella, Brent Tindall, Emmy Taylor, Doug Band, Maritza Vasquez, Courtney Wild, Mark Zeff and Ricardo Legoretta.
The documents clearly state that being named or appearing in photographs does not suggest criminal behaviour or involvement in Epstein's crimes. The records mainly reflect Epstein's extensive network of social and professional contacts over several decades.
The release of the files has nonetheless renewed scrutiny of how Epstein was able to maintain relationships with influential figures long after his first conviction in 2008.
