Why AIIMS hasn't come to Kerala? Rajeev Chandrasekhar on what went wrong

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the state government has not acquired and handed over land for setting up AIIMS. He accused the state of spreading the narrative that Kerala has received nothing.

He also alleged that Kerala has not implemented projects announced in previous Union Budgets.

"During 11 years of governance, the Modi government lifted India from a weak economy. Today, India has become the world's fourth-largest economy. What we see today is the result of that.

To the Left government that is spreading the claim that Kerala has received nothing, I have only one thing to say. Over the last 10-11 Budgets, the Union government has done many things for Kerala. However, several projects earlier granted by the Centre have not been implemented by the Left government. To those who say 'we are not getting anything,' there is only one question-why are the projects that were allotted not being implemented?

AIIMS was announced in Kerala and Madurai in 2017, but from then till today, the state has not acquired and handed over the required land. Although the Centre provided the PM Ayushman Bharat scheme, it has not been implemented in Kerala. Even though the full amount was sanctioned for the PM Awas Yojana, the state government did nothing.

So it should not be said 'we are not getting anything.' The question to the state government should be why the projects that were received are not being implemented. Even after 8-9 years since the announcements, nothing has been implemented. If new projects are to be implemented for the development of the state, an NDA government must come here-a double-engine government," Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.
