Director Priyadarshan has opened up about the reason behind his separation from actress Lissy. He candidly said that during their three-decade-long married life, a sense of monotony and ego crept in, which led them to decide to part ways.
Priyadarshan also revealed that after a few years, they realised they missed each other and decided to come back together. He shared this in an interview with Filmfare.
"During our 32 years of marriage, a kind of boredom and ego developed between us. It was a bit difficult. So we felt it was better to separate. After a few years, we realised that we missed each other. So we came back together-that's all. Having a companion is always essential," Priyadarshan said.
Priyadarshan and Lissy had separated around 10 years ago. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, he revealed that they have now decided to live together again. He also mentioned that although they are currently staying together, they do not have plans to remarry for now.
Earlier this January, the two attending the wedding of director Sibi Malayil's son together had sparked discussions on social media. Actor Mammootty had recently visited Lissy's studio in Chennai for dubbing the film Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. On March 16, Lissy herself shared a picture on social media with Mammootty and Priyadarshan.
Priyadarshan's upcoming film is Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years. Actors Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi also play key roles. The film is set to hit theatres on April 10.
