Bhooth Bangla Is Now Priyadarshan's Top Grosser
Bhooth Bangla has not only become the highest grossing movie of Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan combo, but it has also now become the top grossing movie of the filmmaker's vast career since the '80s.
Bhooth Bangla is Priyadarshan's 97th movie as a director and is his first to hit Rs 100 crore worldwide.
His previous top grosser was 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa which made Rs 82 crore globally 19 years ago.
In Malayalam cinema, his top grosser is Mohanlal's 2016 thriller Oppam which made around Rs 65 crore globally.
Interestingly, Priyadarshan's 98th movie is Oppam Hindi remake Haiwaan starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar.
It is followed by a comedy movie with Pankaj Tripathi, Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor.
And his 100th directorial stars Mohanlal in the lead role. It is most probably a record that a filmmaker's first and 100th film stars the same actor.
