India's Got Latent Season 2 has been generating significant buzz since its second episode dropped simultaneously on YouTube and Netflix.
Among the standout performers was Kapil Dinkar, a constable with the Uttar Pradesh Police, whose mix of humour, confidence and musical talent quickly made him one of the episode's most memorable contestants.
Making a memorable entrance, Kapil quipped, "Phir se shuru kar diya ye? Pichli baar chain nahi pada band karwa ke?" The joke immediately caught Samay Raina off guard and left the comedian laughing. Curious, Samay asked whether the police uniform was simply part of the performance or if Kapil was genuinely associated with the force. In response, Kapil confirmed that he serves as a constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police and revealed that he had come to the show to sing.
Who Is Kapil Dinkar?
Kapil Dinkar revealed that he has been serving as a constable with the Uttar Pradesh Police since his selection in 2021. Reflecting on his journey, he shared that joining the police force was a lifelong dream of his mother, making the achievement especially meaningful for him. Although law enforcement is his profession, Kapil said music has always remained close to his heart. "Main department ka iklauta banda hoon jisko music karne ki permission hai," he remarked, drawing an appreciative reaction from the judges.

Beyond his responsibilities in the police force, Kapil has also pursued writing. He disclosed that he has already authored three books and is currently working on eight more, surprising both the panel and the audience with the breadth of his interests.
During the conversation, Kapil also praised the Mission Shakti Kendra initiative, describing it as an impactful programme. When Samay Raina asked whether he ever felt afraid of crime while serving in Uttar Pradesh, Kapil responded with confidence, saying, "Nahi, humein bahut achhi freedom di hui hai aur us par hum log bahut achha kaam bhi kar rahe hain."
Kapil's Performance And Winning Prize
Kapil Dinkar's performance struck a chord with both the judges and the audience, earning unanimous praise from Samay Raina and fellow panellists Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar, Haarsh Limbachiyaa and Balraj Singh Ghai. The panel awarded him a perfect 10 out of 10, a score Kapil humorously matched by giving himself full marks as well.
The episode also featured a light-hearted moment when Samay attempted to set off a party popper, only for it to malfunction. Turning the mishap into a joke, he quipped, "Police ke saamne explosion nahi kar sakte."
Kapil's impressive outing paid off handsomely, as he walked away with the show's prize of ₹1 lakh. He further increased his winnings by ₹50,000 after successfully answering the bonus question, taking his total prize money to ₹1.5 lakh.
