Before IPL 2026 Final, Virat Kohli Goes Back in Time; Meets U-19 World Cup-Winning Teammate

MensXP 4 months ago

The IPL 2026 final is on May 31. RCB are already through and await the winner of Qualifier 2 between RR and GT. But even as Virat Kohli gears up for the summit clash, 'King' caught up with an old friend and it gave everyone a sense of nostalgia.

Kohli just turned the clock back by 18 years.

Taruwar Kohli Helped India Win 2008 Under-19 World Cup

Who did he meet? Does the name Taruwar Kohli ring a bell? All of us remember the 2008 Under-19 World Cup which was won under Kohli's captaincy. Taruwar was one of our main players as the then young man made 218 runs in six matches with an average of 43.60, scoring three fifties. But their careers took different directions after that.

Different Paths

Kohli went on to be a superstar. He was roped in by RCB even before he played for India and has been with them since. Now, he's on the last legs of his international career and has left a legacy second to none in the game. Taruwar, meanwhile, played for RR in IPL 2008 and then PBKS for some time. He never played IPL after 2009. Taruwar never played for India either but did play domestic cricket for Punjab and Mizoram before retiring in 2024.

Blast from the Past

Taruwar posted a video on his official Instagram account where he Kohli for never changing despite becoming a star. Kohli stepped off the RCB team vehicle to meet him and also interacted with this daughter. "10 years. Different journeys. Same brotherhood. Fame changes people. It didn't change Virat. Specially came out of the bus to meet us. Greatness never changed you. Stay always blessed. The GOAT," he said. Check out the post:

A Brilliant IPL 2026

Meanwhile, Kohli has been having a great IPL 2026. In 15 innings, he's made 600 runs at an average of 50 with a strike rate of 164.38. Not to mention one 100 and four 50s. His personal best is 105 not out. The 37-year-old will look to retain the title for RCB after winning it for the first time in 2025.

Virat Kohli Is an IPL Legend

Just like international cricket, when it comes to the IPL, Kohli is a legend. The modern great holds the records such as most runs, runs for a team, games, games for a team, seasons, seasons for a team, 100s, 50s, 50+ scores, runs as captain, catches and runs in a season. He is expected to play for a couple of more seasons so one can only imagine what a record he will finish with. It's already amazing, it will only get better.
