Fawad Khan's biggest Pakistani hit 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' releases in India on this date

Released in 2022, filmmaker Bilal Lashari's Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt has finally secured an India release date.

Touted to be the most expensive Pakistani film of all time, The Legend of Maula Jatt starring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick and Hamza Ali Abbasi collected a record breaking Rs 396 crore ($14 million) at the worldwide box office.

It is not only the biggest grosser in history of Pakistani cinema but also the highest grossing Punjabi language film of all time.

Now, two years later, The Legend of Maula Jatt is coming to the Indian screens on the Holiday period of Gandhi Jayanti.

Making the announcement, the official Instagram page of the film wrote, "Two years on, The Legend of Maula Jatt is still unstoppable! Witness the epic saga on the big screen in India from 2nd October 2024. Cinema listing to be shared soon."

The Legend of Maula Jatt is said to be an adaptation as well as a soft reboot of the 1979 Pakistani film Maula Jatt.

The October 2 release date may work wonders for the film considering no Hindi film is coming out during the national holiday. The only other big release on Gandhi Jayanti in India is Hollywood superhero film Joker 2.

Moreover, the popularity of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in India may strike gold at the box office especially in multiplexes of metro cities.

Having said that, the film will face competition from NTR Jr and Saif Ali Khan's Devara - Part 1 which releases on September 27 and Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video both of which hit the screens on October 11, 2024.
