'It's Going To Hurt & Heal' Say Fans As Tom Holland Talks Peter's Loneliness In Brand New Day

'It's Going To Hurt & Heal' Say Fans As Tom Holland Talks Peter's Loneliness In Brand New Day

MensXP 1 week ago

Was Spider-Man always about a hero in a suit or the struggling man behind it? Spider-Man: Brand New Day is right around the corner and fans are getting increasingly excited for the movie.

There is nothing better than a Peter Parker July.

It is especially important because of how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended. With no one knowing who Peter was, we get to dive into the regular, depressive character everyone loves so dearly and that is exactly what Tom Holland also thinks is important.

Speaking with Collider, Tom Holland talked about how important it was for people to not only see how Spider-Man has grown as a superhero, but also how Peter is growing. With no one around him, with no one knowing him, he is alone and miserable.

"For me, it was allowing the character to mature so when we meet him, he feels like he has grown up and been through a lot post the events of No Way Home... I really wanted to take a break from the character for that exact reason. There are traits of Peter that will be forever present, but it does feel like an evolution of the character."

"I think what I am most proud of when thinking about this movie is the message. I really hope young people everywhere will watch this film and appreciate the importance of community and that you don't have to do this alone. In the digital age, it is so easy to sit in your room and waste hours just scrolling, but nothing is better than getting out of the house and socializing with friends. That is just one of the many lessons Peter learns in this movie."

Peter's loneliness acts as a reminder as to why it is so important to stay in touch with your human side. Scrolling through hours and hours of content won't replicate the joy you'd feel when spending time with family and friends.

Even fans are more excited with what the movie has to bring now. The human side of Spider-Man always made him one of the most intriguing characters amongst an array of superheroes, and that will continue.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release in theatres on July 31. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink and more, the film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
