Thalapathy Vijay, who recently launched his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has stepped into the political arena ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026. As polling concluded and results are awaited on May 4, the actor-turned-politician visited the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple to seek blessings.

Meanwhile, Mammootty, who is currently in Chennai promoting his upcoming film Patriot, was asked about Vijay's political debut. Responding to the question, the veteran actor shared his thoughts on the development.

Mammootty on Vijay's Political Career

Mammootty was recently spotted at the Chennai International Airport on Tuesday morning, where he briefly interacted with the media. Dressed in a blue shirt, traditional mundu (dhoti), and sunglasses, the veteran star was walking through the airport when reporters approached him with a question about Vijay's political entry.

When asked, "How do you view Vijay's entry into politics?", Mammootty initially requested the media to repeat the question. After hearing it again, he responded with a smile, saying, "Onnume theriyatha (I don't know)."

Even as reporters pressed for a more detailed reaction, the actor stuck to his stance, reiterating that he had no comment on the matter.

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth's Previous Comments

Ahead of the elections, Kamal Haasan was asked in March about the possibility of Vijay contesting from Perambur. Reacting with a smile, he remarked, "Why do I care? I have my own work to focus on." He further added, "Shooting will begin only after the elections. I have my political work, and I also have to act in the film," referring to his upcoming project KH x RK, which also involves Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar.

More recently, in April, Rajinikanth was questioned about the delay in the release of Jana Nayagan, to which he gave a brief reply: "I don't want to comment on that." However, when the film was leaked online in HD, the actor strongly condemned the act, voicing his disapproval publicly.

About Vijay's Last Movie Jana Nayagan

On the film front, his much-anticipated project Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, was initially slated for a theatrical release in January. However, the release was pushed indefinitely due to delays in receiving certification from the CBFC.

Recent reports now suggest that the film could finally hit theatres on May 8, marking what is expected to be Vijay's final outing on the big screen before he fully transitions into politics.
