Mayasabha Teaser Trailer: A Mysterious Jaaved Jaaferi In An Eerie World By Tumbbad Director

Eight years after the iconic Tumbbad starring Sohum Shah, filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve is back with his second directorial venture titled Mayasabha - The Hall of Illusion.

The movie went on floors in November 2018 but failed to secure a theatrical release and now after eight years, Mayasabha is finally seeing the light of the day.

Mayasabha Teaser Trailer Starring Jaaved Jaaferi Out Now

The 1-minute teaser trailer gives a glimpse into the eerie and unsettling world of Mayasabha and introduces us to Jaaved Jaaferi playing a mysterious man. It also reveals three more prominent characters.

One of them is a 14-year-old kid, son of Jaaved Jaaferi's character, who brings in two people from the outside world.

Mayasabha: The Hall of Illusion Plot, Star Cast & Release Date

The movie stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Veena Jamkar, Deepak Damle & Mohd. Samad in the lead roles.

Back in a 2024 interview with MensXP, Jaaved Jaaferi opened up about Mayasabha and revealed, "So, basically, it's about a film producer reference ke liye Karan Johar le li jiye aap. So, he was a Karan Johar of his time and he launched people and he launched a girl and fell in love and married her."

He continued, "In short, the girl and a hero that he also launched, they supposedly fell in love and they ran away and they supposedly took a lot of his money. Now, after 20 years, the only thing he owns is this dilapidated theatre which is in shambles with cobwebs and dust everywhere and nobody comes there now. And he has a paranoia with mosquitoes and there is a reason for it."

Further talking about the plot, he added, "So he wears this mask and there is a huge smoke machine and he walks around with that and he's got a 14-year-old son who is also slightly off because of living in this space. And then the son goes out one day and brings two people in. Now, the story is about what happens between these four people. There is an element of something that these two new people know and they find out and then it's a cat and mouse happening within this space. It's one of the best scripts I have done. So, hopefully it comes out soon."

Mayasabha: The Hall of Illusion releases in theatres on January 30, 2026. It is clashing at the box office with Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 3.
