Thalapathy Vijay's last film has been stuck in limbo for a long time now. Jana Nayagan was meant to mark the end of his journey as an actor while also commemorating his start as a politician.
However, being stuck with the censorship board has only increased this delay. Upon his becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, things are changing its course, but Jana Nayagan was not supposed to be his last film.
Thalapathy Vijay was Almost in Karuppu

In just a span of eight days, Karuppu was able to cross the ₹250 crore mark worldwide. This made it Suriya's biggest film ever, surpassing the total box office earnings of Singam 2 in just four days. According to RJ Balaji, this wasn't just a Suriya and Trisha Krishnan film, but it was also supposed to be a Vijay film.
As per Hindustan Times, RJ Balaji said, "This was supposed to be his last film, so we had two or three meetings over a period of time, discussing his political entry and deciding which film he should do as his final project."
He further elaborated on why Vijay left the project despite being so closely linked to it. "I felt his reasons were justified. I told him, 'Sir, I absolutely respect your decision. Thank you so much.' By then, I had already narrated two stories to him after he asked me if I had something suitable. I considered that itself a huge sign of respect for my work and creativity."
Options were presented to him and he made his choice, unfortunately, it just wasn't Karuppu. Jana Nayagan has been stuck in limbo for almost five months now. After being delayed again and again, fans had almost given up hope. However, the film is set to confirm a release date soon, with the tentative release date being June 19.
