After the backlash surrounding the War 2 debacle, Yash Raj Films appears to have taken the criticism seriously. If Alpha is any indication, the studio has made noticeable course corrections across several departments.

Rather than relying on excess spectacle, Alpha promises a more balanced action thriller that feels polished, grounded and visually cohesive. Here are five areas where Alpha seems to have improved upon War 2.

1. Hand-to-hand combat over excessive wire work

One of the biggest talking points from War 2 was its overdependence on visible wire-assisted action, which left several sequences looking artificial.

Alpha, in contrast, puts its faith in grounded combat. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's close-quarters fight scenes look crisp, while Alia's confrontation with Bobby Deol carries far more physical impact because the choreography feels rooted in real movement rather than gravity-defying stunts.

The visual effects stand out as a major improvement. Unlike War 2, where several CGI-heavy shots attracted criticism online, Alpha delivers cleaner compositing, more convincing environments and significantly better integration of VFX with live-action footage. Instead of constantly trying to outdo itself with larger-than-life moments, Alpha appears to favour believable, high-stakes action. Bobby Deol instantly leaves a stronger impression as the antagonist. His presence feels restrained yet threatening, making him appear considerably more menacing than the primary villains seen in War 2 and even Tiger 3. A compelling antagonist often elevates an action film, and Alpha seems to understand that.

The teaser also benefits from striking cinematography and confident editing. The use of lighting enhances the mood without overwhelming the visuals, while the stylised cuts and seamless transitions keep the momentum intact.
