Mumbai: Bank of Baroda on Wednesday introduced three new features on its UPI app, bob e-Pay, including biometric authentication, Aadhaar-based face authentication for UPI PIN management, and Internet of Things (IoT)-based payments.
The bank said bob e-Pay, a universal UPI application open to customers of all banks, will now allow users to authorise UPI payments of up to Rs 5,000 using fingerprint or face ID registered on their mobile devices.
The feature supports both person-to-person and merchant transactions and eliminates the need for PIN entry for smaller payments.
Bank of Baroda has also enabled UIDAI-based face authentication for setting or resetting UPI PINs. The feature reduces dependence on debit cards and Aadhaar OTP verification by allowing customers to verify identity through facial recognition along with a bank OTP.
In addition, the lender has introduced IoT-based UPI payments, enabling customers to make transactions through connected vehicles and smart appliances linked to bob e-Pay.
The bank said the IoT payment feature works under the delegate payments framework, allowing a primary user to authorise a secondary user or connected device to carry out transactions within preset limits.
Sanjay Mudaliar, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, said the new features are aimed at making digital payments more seamless, secure and user-friendly.
