Erwin boost for Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: Scottish striker Lee Harry Erwin has signed a one-year contract with Mohun Bagan, and the 32-year-old is expected to join the team's training sessions from Tuesday, the club stated.

The 6-foot-2 forward is known for his physical presence, clinical finishing, and ability to make an impact inside the box. Erwin, who can also pose a threat from set-pieces because of his height, joins the Mariners after spending last season with Jordanian club Al-Faisaly. He has represented Scotland at youth level and brings experience from spells with clubs in Europe and Asia. The striker has previously played for Motherwell, Leeds United, Bury FC, and Tractor FC among others, during a career that has taken him across different leagues and countries.

No Imran Khan comments: PCB

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has advised its players involved in the Test series against England not to comment on the issue of Imran Khan's imprisonment. This was after British media attempted to bait some of them into making comments on World Cup-winning skipper Imran's imprisonment back in the country. The issue gained momemtum following Sky Sports' interview with Imran's sons, aired during the lunch interval on the second day of the second Test at the Lords. Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed was also asked whether the players had seen the interview of Imran's sons Kassim and Suleman to Mike Atherton.

Liverpool agrees deal with PSG

London: Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola is heading to Liverpool in one of the big-money signings of the summer transfer window. The clubs have agreed to a deal worth 123 million pounds ($166 million) for Barcola, two people with knowledge of the transaction confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday. They confirmed the deal on the condition of anonymity because the details have not been made public. Neither Liverpool nor PSG have made any official comment about the transfer, which is expected to set a new record for a player leaving the French league. The deal will see Liverpool paying 106 million pounds ($143 million) for the France international and up to an additional 17 million pounds ($23 million) in potential add-ons. Barcola had joined PSG for 45 million euros ($38.5 million) from Lyon in 2023.
