New Delhi: In a significant push towards digital governance and citizen-centric urban administration, the Delhi Development Authority has launched a Single Window Clearance System under its Online Building Permit System (OBPS), aimed at simplifying and accelerating the process of obtaining building permissions in the national capital.
The initiative, introduced under the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, seeks to enhance Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business by reducing procedural delays, limiting physical interaction with officials and bringing greater transparency to the approval mechanism. The newly launched platform provides an integrated digital interface through which citizens, architects, homeowners and developers can submit building plans, upload documents and apply for multiple No Objection Certificates (NOCs) through a unified online system.
Applicants will also be able to track their applications in real time, pay fees online and receive digitally signed approvals without repeated visits to DDA offices.
One of the key features of the platform is the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence-based scrutiny and automated compliance checks, aimed at reducing manual intervention and operational errors. The system also includes geo-tagged mobile inspections and instant SMS and email notifications, which officials say will improve accountability and efficiency in the approval process.
According to DDA officials, the move is expected to address long-standing complaints regarding bureaucratic delays, red tape and corruption linked to building clearances. The Lieutenant Governor's office and senior DDA officials will periodically review the functioning and effectiveness of the system.
The reform marks a major step in modernising Delhi's urban planning framework through technology-driven governance and streamlined public service delivery.
