DDA's largest hiring drive boosts workforce by 55% with over 1,600 fresh appointments

NEW DELHI: In a major expansion of its administrative and operational capacity, the on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 1,647 newly recruited employees during a "Niyukti Samaroh" held in the national capital.

The ceremony was presided over by Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who also serves as the Chairman of the DDA. Addressing the newly appointed officers and staff, he urged them to work with "integrity, empathy and dedication" and emphasised that their role would be central to achieving the vision of a "Viksit Delhi" and "Viksit Bharat" by 2047.

Calling Delhi the "face of the country to the world", the Lieutenant Governor said public service must be viewed not merely as a profession but as a responsibility towards citizens and urban transformation. He also highlighted the importance of transparent and merit-based recruitment in strengthening public institutions.

The recruitment drive, described by the Authority as its largest ever, has increased DDA's workforce from nearly 3,000 employees to around 4,650 an expansion of approximately 55 per cent. The appointments span 26 w posts across Group A, B and C categories, including technical, administrative, engineering, planning and support services.

Among the major appointments are 745 Multi-Tasking Staff, 278 Malis, 147 Junior Secretariat Assistants, 104 Junior Engineers (Civil), 79 Patwaris and 75 Sectional Officers (Horticulture). Senior-level positions such as Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors and Assistant Executive Engineers have also been filled.

The DDA stated that the additional manpower would strengthen its capacity in urban planning, housing, infrastructure development and environmental projects. In recent years, the Authority has undertaken several flagship initiatives, including the rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains through projects such as Baansera and Asita, alongside large-scale housing and infrastructure developments in Narela, Dwarka and Rohini.
