Girls outshine boys in ICSE, ISC; Pass rates top 98%

Kolkata: Girls have outperformed boys in both ICSE (class X) and ISC (class XII) examinations in Bengal. As many as 99.22 per cent of girls have qualified in ICSE against 98.53 per cent boys, while in ISC, 99.31 per cent of girls have qualified, the figure being 98.54 per cent for boys.

In ICSE, the pass percentage is 98.84, while in ISC, the figure is 98.90.

The results of ICSE and ISC examinations were declared on Thursday. In Bengal, 44,410 candidates appeared for ICSE and 28,791 for ISC. Among the total candidates in ICSE, the number of boys and girls is 24,212 and 20,198, respectively. In ISC, 15,441 boys appeared while the number of girls was 13,350.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated all the students for passing the ICSE and ISC examinations. "I am very, very happy for your result. My best wishes are always there for your bright future and all your upcoming works. On this very special day, I also give my heartfelt 'thank you' note to all the parents and the teachers. Without their struggle and their guidance, this success was not possible. They are the real pillars," Banerjee wrote in her X handle.

She also consoled the students who failed to qualify in the examinations.

"To those who could not make it this time, do not be sad. Do not lose heart. This is not the end. I have full faith in you. You will surely win in the coming days. My blessings and love will be with you always. Keep moving forward!" she wrote.

Seven students in ISC ranked first in the state by scoring 100 per cent. Anushka Ghosh of Panihati's St Xavier's School, Harshit Agarwal of La Martiniere for Boys, Agnibho Chakraborty of St. James Kolkata, Rashi Choubey of Mahbert High School, Siliguri, Sujato Pal of Vivekananda Mission School, Joka, Irina Rajkumar Udani of the Heritage School, Kolkata and Anan Rami of Delhi Public School, Megacity all scored 100 per cent.

Among ICSE candidates, 12 candidates have secured the first rank. Arkadeep Bandyopadhyay of Rammohan Mission High School, Nipobithi Dutta of St. Xavier's School, East Burdwan, Noirrhit Basu of St. Augustine's Day School, Barrackpore, Irene Mitra of Calcutta Girls High School, Aranya Ghosh of Sri Aurobindo Institution of Education, Kolkata, Raunak Kumar of St Michael's School, Siliguri, Dibyendu Pramanik of Auxilium Convent School, Siliguri and Nandini Seal from Modern High School For Girls scored 99.80 percent.

Two students, Aarav Goenka and Shreyansh Das from The Heritage School, Kolkata, along with Arhon Guha Mazumder and Sauragni Banerjee, both from Garden High School, Kolkata, also scored 99.80 per cent.
